Social Philosophy, Political Philosophy and Popular Culture

Social Philosophy, Political Philosophy and Popular Culture

This section is supposed to publish materials that show how social and political-philosophical concepts and concepts function in modern popular culture - first of all, in movies and serials. We deliberately do not limit potential authors in their choice of topics, because we assume that all social and political philosophy can be studied using what is described by the terms "mass culture" or "popular culture" not only as examples, but also as material for research.

Cinema is always an immersion in illusion, harmless or not. Cinema and television can change (and create) a person's ideas about life, about norms, about right and wrong. Cinema can be inscribed in various public discourses and ideologies, it can shape and distort the perceptions of people and reality. This category includes not only openly propaganda or ideological films, but also those that are commonly called cult films.

We live in an age where we no longer need to make excuses that we not only love watching movies and TV shows, but also make them the objects of our research. We consider them complex narrative systems and recognize that they represent social reality and relationships in society. By studying how they work and why we like them, we can learn a lot about ourselves, as well as about what socio-philosophical and political-philosophical problems are important for our modern society.
